The fictitious progressive roulette game from our example retains 10% of each bet made. After a lucky player collects the prize, the progressive jackpot is reset back to its seed amount, say $100,000. The seed usually accumulates from the bets players contribute to the overall progressive pot.

The purpose of the seed is to motivate players to continue betting on the game after the jackpot is won.
