| Updated: As the season for Mariah Carey’s “All I Want for Christmas Is You” and the beloved (or perhaps overplayed) Home Alone film series approaches, casino players begin looking for new holiday-themed slot titles. The year 2022 is no exception, and one of the first releases in this category is Million Christmas, developed by Red Rake Gaming.
Father Christmas’s massive workshop is spread across six reels and ten rows, which accommodate this iGaming software provider’s signature 1,000,000 ways to win. The slot is packed with special symbols and bonus features, providing a thrilling holiday experience. Keep reading to discover what Santa has hidden in his sack.
Million Christmas Theme, Graphics, and Sounds
When you start the game, you immediately feel warm and cozy. How could it be otherwise, with a lit fireplace on the left side of the screen, decorated with Christmas lights and candles, and a large pile of presents on the right? Each interface element (paytable, balance, spin button, etc.), as well as the game board, is surrounded by white, green, and red holiday frames accented with gold and pine tree ornaments.
You can listen to a pleasant Christmas tune while playing, and with each spin of the reels, you hear reindeer bells heralding a truly festive celebration. It is clear that the Red Rake Gaming team approached the development of this slot with care rather than simply capitalizing on the seasonal interest in Christmas.
Million Christmas Symbols and Payouts
The Million Christmas slot features ten paying symbols that, except for the top-paying one, reward players for landing three to six identical icons on adjacent reels, counting from left to right only. Santa, on the other hand, has a present for you even when just two Santa symbols appear, doubling your wager. The other bet multipliers he can award are 5x, 10x, 25x, and 50x.
The beautiful Christmas star is the next most valuable symbol, paying up to 7.5 times your stake. Although the payouts for the remaining regular icons are lower, they can still boost your bankroll depending on your bet size. The Bells and Candy Cane symbols will double your wager if you match five of them, while the rest of the reel icons pay between 0.8x and 1.75x your stake.
A charming deer serves as the Wild, substituting for any symbol except the Bonus.
Since Million Christmas is a cascading reels casino game, the participating icons disappear when a winning combination appears, and new ones drop into their places. The grid is then re-evaluated, and any additional wins are added to the total prize for that spin. This process continues until no new winning combinations appear.
Million Christmas Bonus Mechanics
You didn’t think Santa would leave you with just a few cash prizes, did you? After all, he has only one day a year to make us happy, and he does it wholeheartedly. During the base game, you will notice numerous grayish Santa symbols in addition to the paying icons. Each time you fail to land a winning combination, these Santa symbols fill a progress bar. Once it is full, the Million Christmas Minigame is triggered.
At the start of the minigame, you play on a 5×3 grid with three initial re-spins and five randomly placed gift symbols. If a new gift icon appears, it locks into place and resets the spin counter to three. During this bonus, four special symbols that never appear during the base game can enhance your play.
- Key – landing 3 or more adds between 1 and 3 extra rows
- Value Booster – landing 3 or more increases all win values collected so far
- Heart – landing 3 or more grants an additional spin
- Multiplier – landing 3 or more moves the multiplier level up
Don’t rush off; the Christmas bounty is far from over. A Free Spins Bonus Feature is activated if five or more winning re-spins occur after a successful spin. The total number of connected re-spins from the base game determines the number of initial free spins. Players start with 8 free spins, which can be increased to a maximum of 16.
Multipliers and extra spins can occasionally appear on an exclusive reel available only during the bonus game mode. This reel appears when a symbol depicting a rectangular Christmas wreath with a cross and the word “BONUS” lands. Landing this Scatter activates one element of the BONUS panel. If fewer than ten free spins are won, four more are automatically added. The maximum win from the Free Spins Bonus Feature is capped at 20,000 times the wager that activated it.
Closing Thoughts
This online casino game is a fun, cleverly designed slot that immerses players in the holiday spirit. Its high-quality graphics and well-chosen sound effects further enhance the experience. We also appreciate the free spins feature, which deviates from the standard model while still offering significant winning opportunities.
One million ways to win and a high volatility level rarely go hand in hand. Given that the Million Christmas slot by Red Rake Gaming has an expansive grid and a maximum payout of 10,000x the total bet, we understand why Santa is in no rush to give out all the prizes.
