Rules and Gameplay
Playtech’s Mini Baccarat follows the rules of regular baccarat and offers the same payouts for the main wagers. It is played with 8 decks of 52 cards each, but unlike most live games, it has only one betting position, and the game pays out automatically to all winning players. The cards are valued the standard way – those from 2 through 9 are worth their face value, cards from 10 through King have no point value, and Aces are worth 1.
The aim is to predict which hand, the Player or the Banker, will have a value closer to 9, or whether the round will be a Tie. Winning Player and Banker bets pay even money (with a 5% commission on Banker bets), while those who have wagered on a Tie and won receive a payout of 8:1. As usual, the Player hand draws an additional card when it has 5 or fewer. The Third Card Rule for the Banker is standard as well.
Distinctive Features
This simple, fast-paced game comes with a wide range of side bets that offer very attractive payouts of up to 150:1. Of course, these optional wagers also have a higher house edge, i.e. their theoretical Return to Player is lower. These include Player/Banker Pair, Perfect Pair, and Either Pair, all of which win if one of the hands contains a mixed or perfect pair. With the Big/Small side wagers, players bet on the total value of all cards dealt in the round.
In addition, Playtech’s Mini Baccarat offers the Egalite Extra side bets, which are quite interesting. With them, players bet on a specific tie between the Player and the Banker hands – the top payout of 220:1 is awarded when the two hands tie on 2, for example.
